Congratulations to our WVW Middle School Mathcounts team and their coaches, Dr. Oliveira, Ms. Frey, and Mrs. Hampel who helped prepare the sixth, seventh and eighth grade team members. These Mathletes did an outstanding job competing against 11 other public and private schools from Luzerne and Lackawanna Counties. WVWMS placed 4th overall, in this very difficult competition which included tests of complex math computations. It was a great day to be a Spartan!!

The Newspaper Club (Newsies) produces and distributes the Burgundy & Gold quarterly newsletter. Students are editors, reporters, and proofreaders. Students meet regularly to keep the school informed of the latest news going on around campus and in our community. Students learn teamwork, collaboration, the ins and outs of working on a school newspaper, and how to meet deadlines. It is an educational, fun and exciting experience. Publications will be available quarterly, we hope you enjoy!
During parent conferences, we invite you to take a few moments to review PATTAN forms and publications in the main hallway of the Wyoming Valley West Middle School. There will be several informative resources for parents/guardians. PaTTAN provides support to our schools to help improve student results.
Nearly 300 band students were selected to participate, representing more than 50 schools from 29 regional school districts
The students, coached by Mr. Moran, had entered a video contest called "What's So Cool About Manufacturing?" Click title for the rest of the story.
